Q: Is my email also protected if I whole disk encrypt my computer?
Answer
This depends on what you mean by your email being protected. Whole Disk Encryption only protects your data on your computer if the computer is lost or stolen and not logged in (or asleep). Whole Disk Encryption does not protect your data while your computer is booted up, nor does it protect data in transit. If your email is stored on your local computer, and the computer is turned off, then your local email store is protected from prying eyes if the computer is lost/stolen.
